The School is home to several large-scale research institutes and centers, many of them cutting across disciplinary silos, that explore the future of human-centered computing technologies and, through them, our world.

Industry collaborations are a key element of our research strategy, yielding an unmatched ecosystem for discovery and innovation by combining our diverse and multifaceted research environment with real-world problems and cutting-edge expertise from industry.

Examples of exciting research collaborations with our industry partners abound.  SAP has collaborated with ICS researchers to investigate machine learning models for automated analysis of topics and emotions in patient-doctor dialog.   eBay has partnered with our software engineering experts to explore tools that identify, predict, and prevent Out Of Service Level Agreements (OOSLAs), helping developers write better quality code and improving customer experience.  The Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) has partnered with our human-computer interaction researchers to develop and assess digital technologies that make speech therapy more fun for patients.  To find out more about our research collaborations with industry, check out our industry research news.
